Week 7: Put down the phone/video game/tv remote/basketball/brain candy book, etc

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are working on your priorities this week!  Don't you dare wander into the DARK PLAYGROUND! (Thank you, Ethan Day--https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=arj7oStGLkU&feature=share)

Animal Farm should be on the top of the list!!🐖🐓🐑🐐🐄🐕🐎. Do not let the instant gratification monkey steer you wrong!

We are going to have a fun discussion.  (There will be a treat that pertains to the book.)

Come prepared!  There is no other way to come to class, unless you want to disappoint Mrs. Schmieder and me.😭😭

The book is SO SHORT!  No excuses!!

Here is your homework list:

1) read Animal Farm (even if you have read it in the past!  I want fresh perspective!)

2)complete the approach paper-the worksheet can be found in your binder

3) complete 2 priority worksheets (the one with the circles and the one where you make a to do list)

WEEK 6: It's time to PAY UP

Hi Everyone,
I'm so glad we got to congregate on Thursday. And Benjamin kept us awake with his heavy handed gavel work.
Class opened with our new policy.
👉🏾If you are not prepared for class and your assignments, you PAY us class money.
Our class is not difficult!
There is absolutely no excuse not to be prepared.
Preparedness is not only a trait of a Boy Scout, but it is a trait of a good leader!

So STOP PROCRASTINATING!!!!!!!!
We want ALL of you to receive your golden ticket to our leadership class retreat. Even WE are excited!! And we don't get excited about lame things😜.


Thank you to those that came prepared to present your character studies. It was easy to tell who prepared the day of, versus who researched and spent time on their presentation. Winging it DOES work SOMETIMES, but there is no need when you have had TWO weeks to prepare!
You are fooling no one!:). We are doing you no favors by letting you slide through class. You are practicing for real life! Face life prepared.

Mrs. Schmieder and I really enjoyed your presentations. The characteristics you chose were excellent!
We are working through your requirements fairly quickly.
Your last presentation will be an in-depth look at a leader. So start thinking about a leader you want to study. You may not study any leader you have already talked about this semester. For example, Gabe cannot present on Coach Cain, Benjamin cannot present on Richard Winters, etc..

We were impressed with your activity planning. Keep it going. EVERYONE on your team MUST contribute. This means opening your mouth in the planning stage! If you are having a hard time connecting with your group members, study their personality. It might give you some ideas and insight on how to handle them;).

Week 5: Resume Virtues VS Eulogy Virtues

It was so great hearing all you did to work your way up the Levels of Leadership.  I think we are on a solid level 2 as we continue to build our relationship with everyone at FILA.  I hope you realize that YOU can do things to move up the levels on your own!  Please don't wait for me to assign you challenges: ).

Noah and Ethan Riggle need to complete their challenges THIS WEEK!!

In class we took a look at character traits.  We talked about there being two types - those we put on a resume and those read in a eulogy.  

The resume traits are worldly and ambitious.  They allow you to build, create, and conquer the world.  The motto is SUCCESS!!

The eulogy traits honor God, creation, and possibilities.  They are developed when you hear a calling and obey.  They answer the question of why  you are here.  The motto is love, redemption and return.

Both traits are very important to developing your overall character and in your pursuit to become a great leader.

Your assignment is to present a character trait to the class that you feel is necessary for leadership.  Please turn to page 8 (Character Study) in your binder for all the details.  This is DUE MARCH 8TH!!  Please mention whether your chosen trait is a resume or resume trait.  (OR BOTH?)

** Don't forget that you each spun the wheel to choose the first letter of the character trait you will present.  Here are the results:
